Some months back we mentioned about 51 Free iPhone 3G / 3GS Applications, now today here we compiled the collection of the most useful 16 iPhone apps for Web designers that I’ve come across. These iPhone apps help you create color schemes as well as convert RGB, CMYK, HSL, and hex to other color formats. There are even apps that will tell you the color schemes that go best with photos on your iPhone. Here are some of the best iPhone App for Web Designers

apps, css, flickr, iphone, iphone applications, iphone apps, twitter, applications, iphone, website design

1. ColorRef

coloref

ColorRef is an app that allows you to compare colors in a scheme by adding them into your palette and then reviewing them. It does automatic conversion of your colors in hex, RGB or CoreGraphics format. You can only input your colors via RGB, so if you don’t already know the RGB numbers this could be difficult. Also, I found the sliders unresponsive at times, which made me overshoot on my color values. This got frustrating.

2. Palettes Lite

palletes

Palettes Lite is the free version of the paid app Palettes (see below). In Palettes you can create a color scheme by choosing a color from a color wheel, sliders, or inputting the color code or get colors from a photo. Then you can ask Palettes to suggest a color scheme based on analogous and complementary colors on the color wheel. You can also blend colors together to form a different palette.

Palettes connects with Color Lovers online to allow you to browse the palettes there. You can import ones you like into Palettes and then fiddle with them with the blending and mixing tools. Palettes Lite is free and has some limitations including: only 3 palettes can be saved, with only 5 colors in the palette. Plus other limitations.

3. Ruler Plus

ruler plus

RulerPlus is a simple application for your iPhone / iPhone 3G / iPod Touch, providing you with a simple 7 cm / 2 inch ruler. Ruler+ let’s you take measurements quickly and easily. Ruler+ also allows you to extend the ruler. Simply move your iPhone to the right and press ‘+’ to create the extended ruler.

4. CSS CheatSheet

css

CSS Cheat Sheet for the iPhone is designed to address that need. Use it as a quick reference for topics you’ve already learned but need a few reminders on, or if you’re still a beginner to CSS, use it to better understand what CSS has to offer. CSS Cheat Sheet categorically includes descriptions, values and examples for backgrounds, borders, classifications, dimensions, fonts, lists, margins, media types, outlines, padding, positioning, units, colors, tables, text, selector types, pseudo-classes, pseudo-elements and selector patterns.

5. HTML Colors

HTML Colors

HTML Colors allows you to preview how your color schemes will look as text and background colors on a Web page. This is very useful to Web designers as having color swatches is nice, but seeing what those colors will look like in a Web type environment is even more helpful. You can even click on the “Random” button to get a random color combination. This is a free app and is really nice at that price. I would love to see a few additions like:

* More colors in the sample, such as a 3- or 5-color swatch
* The ability to save more than one scheme (you can have it remember your last choice)
* Suggested colors, you choose a background color and it recommends text colors to go with it
