Microsoft today unveiled a its newest browser, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9), aimed at Web developers and the technically brave of heart. The test version is described as rough and uses a bare frame but is the first version of IE to support HTML5, bringing it up to the level of Chrome and Safari as well as certain newer versions of Firefox. According to Microsoft, IE9 brings to the table expanded support for HTML5, but also hardware-accelerated graphics and text, and a new, evolved JavaScript engine, designed to boost the overall performance of the browser. Obviously, Microsoft has improved all aspects of Internet Explorer 9 since the browser was first introduced at PDC 2009. In this context, hardware acceleration is applied to both HTML5 and SVG.

The preview is a 31MB download, and can be retrieved from the Test Drive site that Microsoft has set up.

If you are a blackberry user than here is good news for you, Today Amazon has launched a Kindle ebook reading app for BlackBerry mobile phones. The app will enable users to access over 400,000 Kindle books on their phones. The free app, which runs on several BlackBerry devices, including the Bold 9700 and Storm 2, is currently only available to US BlackBerry users, but Amazon has pledged to roll out the service to other countries in the coming months.
