Google Chrome OS Launch

Today Google released the code for there new upcoming Chrome OS, and plans to have a netbook running the operating system available for sale before the 2010 holiday season. Google also provided an early demonstration of the web operating system, which sports a Chrome browser-like interface that features application tabs instead of web page tab and a seven second bootup time that is expected to be much faster on its release.

Under the hood, Chrome OS does a few interesting things. The entire root file system partition is read-only, and the user file system is encrypted. You shouldn’t see the user file system as a place to store files – it’s actually a cache. All user data is stored on the internet, and continuously synced. As you probably already anticipated, the operating system updates itself automatically.

Google Image Swirl in Google Labs

Now Google is Giving competition to Bing in Image Search, now Google adds new image search: Google Image Swirl in google labs. Image Swirl, a new product from Google Labs, takes that and makes it all a whole lot easier to use. It’s based on Google’s existing Wonder Wheel search tool but because it uses images it’s much sexier to look at.

When you do a search in Image Swirl, the first results will be in the form of 12 stacks of images grouped by similitude. Clicking on any of them will bring up the “swirl” view, centering on the group of images related to the one you clicked on. Image Swirl currently works for more than 200,000 queries and we plan to include more queries in the future. Available queries will auto-complete as you start to type in the search box, similar to Google Suggest. You can try out Google Image Swirl in Google Labs today.

Google Tasks Access Google apps on Your Desktop

Google Tasks is also called Gmail Tasks as it uses the Gmail login credentials to access your tasks. It is a secure application with which one can manage various tasks from any device on which this application is installed. There is a facility to create lists. Using lists, one can manage various tasks by different categories. If you are a person who use Gmail and Google applications, this is a very useful tool. Next time you get to call or visit someone, you can enter in your task details in this tool. Every time you login to this application, all your tasks will be right before your eyes. This tool is compatible will most of the Windows operating systems; however it is not available for Linux.

Developer Jash has taken very good care of designing this program so its look and feel is just like a web application, though it is a desktop-based one. The installer of this application is very easy and quick. One can manage the completed task in smart sticking off feature. Users can clear all their completed task in just one click. It requires Adobe Air, but if you don’t have it in your system, the installation program will install it as well.

Google releases Android 2.0 SDK

Google on Tuesday released an SDK for Android 2.0, revealing some new features that will come with the upgraded mobile operating system. Android 2.0 brings new developer APIs for sync, Bluetooth, and a few other areas. Using the new sync, account manager and contacts APIs, you can write applications to enable users to sync their devices to various contact sources. You can also give users a faster way to communicate with others by embedding Quick Contact within your application. With the new Bluetooth API, you can now easily add peer-to-peer connectivity or gaming to your applications.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

* Support for multiple Google and Exchange accounts
* Third-party “sync adapters” allow apps to tie in to the phone’s sync services

Google Voice Invites Available

Google will now allow Google Voice users to invite friends to the service, the company wrote in a blog post on Tuesday. If you currently use Google Voice, over the next few weeks, you’ll see an “Invite a friend” link appear on the left-hand side of your inbox. When users want to invite a friend, they need only to input the recipient’s e-mail address, add a brief message, and send it off. The recipient will receive the message and a link allowing them to sign up for Google Voice.

Google Docs Launches Shared Folders

Google has announced that its online word processor Docs just got a little better for team collaboration, with a new feature that allows users to share entire folders. Shared folders make it easy for a team of people to collaborate on projects that require multiple documents, spreadsheets or presentations. If you have a group of items you want to share, all that you have to do is put them into one folder and share it. It’s also an easy way to start working on a document, then share it with a select group of individuals without having to remember to invite them in the first place.

All these new features work in both the regular edition of Google Docs and in Google Apps for Domains, too.

Google search with PDF Viewer

Google is now using the Web-based PDF viewer on Google Search to make it easier to view PDFs that you happen upon on the Web. In the past, the only way to view these documents was to download them and open them in a separate viewer application. Now you easily view the PDF files on Google Search with this new Service. A new “Quick View” option has been added to some PDFs in search results. When a user clicks on the link, the full PDF file is displayed in the browser with all its formatting intact. The viewer is based on the same service built into Gmail and Google Docs.

Gmail & Yahoo also Hit By E-mail Phishing Attacks

Yesterday we reported on the big news that thousands of Hotmail Passwords Leaked online. Now Users of Gmail and Yahoo have joined Hotmail as victims in what appears to be a large-scale webmail phishing campaign designed to steal login credentials. The 10,000 passwords and user names, believed to be booty from a phishing attack, were posted over the weekend to the clipboard site PasteBin The list included only online account addresses that began with “A” or “B,” suggesting that the list was only part of a larger cache of credentials. On Tuesday, the BBC reported that it had viewed a second list of more than 20,000 account credentials that included Gmail, Yahoo and AOL accounts, and that Google had uncovered a third list containing an unknown number of accounts.

Both Google and Microsoft, which own Gmail and Hotmail, MSN and Live.com respectively, have taken measures to block use of the exposed accounts until the legitimate users can reset their passwords. Google introduces New Translator Gadget for Websites

Google announce a new website translator gadget powered by Google Translate that enables you to make your site’s content available in 51 languages. And this is different from Google Translate because you are not translation just one page of your website but the whole websitecontent. If the visitor’s language is the same as the language of your page, no translation banner will appear.

Now, if visitors want to see your content in Swahili or Catalan or any of the approximately 50 languages supported, all they need to do is choose the language from the pull-down menu, and it happens on the fly.
