Jimdo is a very easy to use webservice where you can create your own Jimdo-Page (website) for free. The service is especially good at handling photos. It does a great job displaying photos that you upload to it, and it also integrates beautifully with Flickr. There are good options for how the galleries are displayed, and when you zoom into a picture, it displays over the page instead of taking you off-site. It does great slide shows.
The editing capabilities overall are quite good, though the usability has some way to go yet. For example, it’s very easy to edit text – just click on it, and a Rich Text box below it will offer you to change it – or change a picture. Or if you like to, you can switch the complete layout of the page with a couple of clicks right on the page itself.
Additional features include password protected pages, newsletter system, a guestbook and photo gallery. Jimdo is available in both free and pro version. JimdoFree is ad supported and gives you 500MB of storage space (5 times as much as Google Page Creator). Ad free version of Jimdo is priced at 5 Euros/month and includes 5GB of storage space and domain name to host your pages.
