Google Maps for BlackBerry has been updated to v4.0.1 and now includes a Buzz layer and a search by voice feature. The voice search feature lets users speak their search queries, and Google will then return results and show them on a map relative to the user’s location. Buzz integration means that users can post to their Buzz account from Maps.
To use Google Buzz on Google Maps for BlackBerry, simply fire up the app, select Layers > Buzz. You can then start posting location updates to your Google Buzz account. It’s a pretty cool application. Something that could compete with Foursquare and other location-based social networking apps.
Other useful features of Google Maps 4.0 for BlackBerry include – search suggestion, starring of places you’ve visited and syncronization with your dekstop Google maps, Mobile Labs, and the facility for viewing nearby places. To install Google Maps 4.0 for BlackBerry, visit m.google.com/maps in your BlackBerry’s web browser and install the update.
