Yesterday I Bought the new HTC Hero, Everything is working fine on this Phone. Today when i put the Headphone in the Jack, but it was not working. I thought this was problem with my Headphone, so i tried the other one which i have, so that one also not working. If you are also the HTC hero and Facing this Problem, Than here is a solution which help you to solve this problem.
1. Put the Headphone in the Jack.
2. Turn Off the HTC hero.
3. Now Start the Hero
4. Now your Headphone is detected buy HTC hero and Now its working.
If all these methods are not working than hard reset your Phone and try again these steps.

Its the reverse. The solution is unplug the headset from the jack and then restart and once its at the home screen try plugging in. It worked for me after a frustrating 2 hour ordeal.
As Navjeet said – the solution is not to plug it in and turn it off then on.
When I did that I went from having sound in one earbud to the phone not even recognizing the headphones were plugged in. I had to restart without them plugged in to get the phone to see the headphones again.
