Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Nexus 5, 6 and Nexus 9

Google officially announced the Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the new developer preview build 3 (MPA44G) is available for the Nexus 5, 6 and Nexus 9 android devices. The Android M Comes with lots of new features and changes and packed with new boot animation, wallpapers, and ringtones. If you are the user of Nexus 5, 6 and Nexus 9 device and want to try the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow build on your device, here is the complete and working guide which you can follow on your android and update the same. To get started all you need a bootloader unlocked device, System image and ADB files to flash the Android M. The guide is pretty simple and takes a few minutes to complete the task. Once the phone is updated with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you can enjoy all its features on your phone.

Before applying this method on your nexus and do take the full backup of your device. Read all the instruction very carefully and follow them step by step on your phone.

Install the Android 6.0 Dev Preview on Nexus 5, 6 and 9

Step 1. The first and most important thing is that you have to setup the ADB and fastboot files on your windows. Read our guide here how to setup ADB on windows. After this, you will see the ADB folder on your C Drive (C:/ADB).

Step 2. Now download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for your device from here

Step 3. Now extract the folder and copy all the file on the ADB folder that you created in Step 1.

Step 4. Now connect your phone to the PC with USB cable and Open a Terminal (shift + right click, select open command prompt here) in the adb folder and type the command below then hit enter.

adb reboot bootloader

Step 5. Now your android device will boot in fastboot mode. Now you have to unlock the bootloader of your phone. Enter the following command:-

fastboot oem unlock

Follow the on-screen instructions and choose to erase the device. Wait a minute or so for it to unlock. This removes everything on your device. Now you device will reboot. And reboot in fastboot mode again. (Follow the Step 4 Again.) If you already unlocked the bootloader on your phone, then go to the next step 6.

Step 6. Now you phone is in fastboot mode and you are ready to flash the files on your device. Now double click on the “flash-all.bat” file that runs a batch process.

Step 7. Once the flashing process is done, you phone reboot automatically, if not then enter the following commands.

fastboot reboot

Step 8. Now your phone will reboot and first boot will take some time to apply the changes.

That’s it! Now your Nexus 5, 6 and Nexus 9 is running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
