Going by the screen name of George Hotz or GeoHot, the author of the Purplera1n tool reveals that the method is currently supported on Windows platforms only, while Windows 7 is not compatible with the jailbreak tool. Make sure you have windows(but not 7), the latest iTunes installed, and an iPhone 3GS with 3.0 firmware. Connect your iPhone normally. Click “make it ra1n”. For those unaware, jailbreaking is a process that allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to run unofficial apps on their devices that aren’t available, or do not meet the strict requirements, of Apple’s App Store.
