Doesn’t work. I have an iPhone 3G. When running the blakcra1n app it hangs. The log file mentions that “usb open failed while sending payload”…

hey guys im having sime trouble, im using an ipod touch 2g. it has 3.1.2 firmware. we i use blackrain it all works perfectly untill it gets to the reboot stage, where my ipod’s screen turns black and stays that way, i cant even turn it on…

how long so the rebooting take? am i just being impatient? plz help, thx.

they say it won’t work on iPod 2g 8b serial with MC… if thats yours they said it wont work so youll have to wait. I dunno if thats the trouth, I use the iPhone 2g and I’m having problems as well… so… never mind, it will work somehow I guess

Used the tool, but I cant ssh into itough 2g.
downloaded WinSCP, using scp protocol, installed Cedia on itouch, but cant ssh into the phone. Got the correct ftp, using root/alpine doesnt work.

It did work on my iphone3g 3.1. I have been up so many night reading on how to JB this phone and now i found blackra1n, did not think i would work but it did, took three try but got it to work. THANKSSSSSSSS SOOOOO MUCHHHHHH.

hey guys, im running 3.12 on iphone 3g and every time i click on the restore black rain just says running and the screen on my iphone is the normal recovery mode 1.. any help?

Ok,

Tried few times on 3 different computers running 3 different OSs (win 2008 r2, Vista x64, Vista x86) and couldn’t make it work with 8GB iPhone 3G.

Eventually, I had to downgrade the firmware back to 3 and JB with redsn0w. No great loss…

Cant get it to work with my iphone 3g (3.1.2) in Windows 7. Ran it in compatibility mode with admin rights and still no dice. Keep getting ERROR: usb send file failed 1 so obviously the transfer isnt completing it fails and reboots.

I am now on the third try with no luck yet in jailbreaking my iphone 3G 16 Gg with 3.1.2 firmware, 5.6 carrier update. Once I click on “make it rain” it goes into recovery mode with the usb cord poining to the itunes disk, but it stays there. The first time I let it stay there for 40 minutes and the second time for 30 minutes. I am following the instructions above, so do I need to let it sit longer, or what am I doing wrong? I never have made it to the screen with GeoHot, so can someone help me to the next step?

i use blackra1n to jailbreak my new ipod touch 3gen without result. i click on make ti rain , it reboots, i see geohots logo and after than the screen becomes black and nothing………. i cant open ipod and i do a restore to use it again….. please help

Hi, for those who are having trouble to get the geohots logo.

Make sure

1) You are running blackra1n in compatible mode if you are not using Winxp (right click on property)
2) Make sure all the iphone/itouch related programs are closed (use alt-ctrl-del trick) before you click on “make it rain”
3) Now, instead of letting blackra1n to load the restore mode, do this manually yourself by holding the Home button till you see geohots logo.
4) And yes the 3) is the most tricky part, you might need to try it a few time and it will eventually load the geohots logo. (It should take no more than 10-15sec)
5) If it failed, don’t panic, just hold the home & power button to shutdown the phone and restart from 1) again.

6) ***** DON’T INSTALL ICY ****** WITH CYDIA TOGETHER, IT WILL CORRUPT THE SYSTEM AND YOU WILL HAVE TO RESTORE TO 3.1.2 AND START FROM 1) AGAIN. BEWARE!!!

I was terrified to do this, but I really wanted video recording capability, so I took the plunge. it worked perfectly, and now I’m using Cydia to find all the apps I suddenly can’t live without ; ) Super easy, and worked like a charm on my 3G iPhone!

Tried jailbreaking 3g phone with no success. Tried mulitple ways that I found from several sites. Finally found one that worked perfectly. Made sure I had 3.1.2. Left the phone on, put it in airplane mode. Here is the trick, I had downloaded Blackra1n with firefox, tried it about 15 times..thats the mistake. I redownloaded with IE and saved to dekstop. Worked perfectly.

Hi guys did the blackra1n worked first time works fine what i did was click on blackra1n you fone will turn off hold the power and hold when you see the apple take your finger off power button and keep your finger on home button the face will be on your iphone and let it reboot , once it reboots tick cydia and then take all update when you start up cydia

If I updated through iTunes to the latest 3.1.2 and my phone (3GS) unlocked to all providers the 1st time I connected it to itunes (factory unlocked or not?) will it still be unlocked after this? If this fails and my phone becomes locked can i use an iTunes backup to restore my unlocked 3.1.2?

ok,. i sat for about an hour trying to get this to work on my iPhone 3g 3.1.2.. and as staed in another post, i used firefox.. downloading with IE worked perfectly.. how bizarre.. anyway, good luck to you all.

It works but evrytime i reboot my iPhone 3Gs 3.1.2 my iPhone is on revory mode and it has to restore again with itunes then jailbreak again. it happens all over again. need help

Blackra1n is the easiest jailbreak and unlock ever.. PERIOD

I had iPhone 3G with 3.0 firmware which was not unlocked or jailbroken. So I decided to try Ziphone to unlock and jailbreak. That stupid thing could never find the iphone after so many tries.

I was scared to upgrade my 3G iPhone to 3.1.2 just cause its very new and suppose to be hard to unlock. Also before Blackra1n unlock came out PawnageTool 3.1.4 was the only unlock available for 3.1.2 which tells you to never upgrade iphone with 3.1.2 from apple, and to use only custom 3.1.2 version to upgrade. PawnageTool 3.1.4 worked for my iPhone 2G that I upgraded and unlocked to version 3.1.2. So I decided to try it on my iPhone 3G also. I downloaded custom 3.1.2 for iPhone 3G but it errored out both the times I tried to upgrade. Now my iPhone 3G is stuck with nothing on it and in recovery mode. So I had no option but to just restore it from apple using itunes to the 3.1.2.

After the upgrade, I had only one option left and it was Blackra1n. I downloaded Blackra1n RC3, cause it comes with Blacksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 along with Jailbreak. After that I followed the directions which is “Make it Rain” and thats it iphone is jailbroken in less than a minute. Then run Blacksn0w or Blackra1n which you will see as one of the apps on your iphone and your iphone is unlocked.

Its unbelievably easy, I popped an O2 UK SIM card in my AT&T iPhone and rebooted or ran Blackra1n again and my UK phone was working on iPhone. I dont know if rebooting made it work or running blackra1n again. But it works.

I downloaded this for my iphone 3.1.2 and I was able to jailbreak it and then use Cydia to unlock it to change to TMobile using ultrasn0w.

I had already downloaded blackra1n to my macbook. I then connected my iphone to my macbook and was going to update my iphone 3.1.2 firmware. I had 3.0 firmware on my 3GS. As my iphone was syncing, blackra1n ran aitmatically. Now my iphone only shows the start up apple logo screen and the turns back off. how can I fix this??

oh and make sure itunes is closed when u run blackra1n, itll pop back up when u run it but just dont touch it till the confirmation message for ur jb comes up first^_^ happy jbing people:D

I got this to work perfect, even downloaded the Appsync 3.1.2 which works as well…

Everything is ok until the phone is switched off and back on again. It shows the “Connect to Itunes”, which then asks to restore.

It is obvious that this only seems to work on the older iphones as I have tried everything.

I have the
32Gb
3.1.2 (7D11) firmware original (1 weeks old)
Modem Firmware Date: 05.11.07

Does anyone have a solution on this problem as there does seem to be loads of users having this very same problem.

I can confirm I downloaded the ipsw from the link, and everything does install without any issues….
Including installing all the ipa games and apps.

It’s if I switch off the phone I have to do all this again, which is time consuming and I loose data saved in one of my apps for mileage and business logs….

Hope someone can advise…

Very simple…

So the iPhone has been jailbroken and you are scared now to reboot…

Why? It goes into recovery mode….

Solution: Follow instructions on youtube link
1. reboot phone (press hold both buttons for 15 seconds)
2. switch on
3. connect to usb
4. run blackra1n
5. phone will reboot…. that’s it…. I just tried it and woked perfect, this phone is the latest one with new bootstrap date from Sep-2009 onwards or whatever it is called….

TO ALL THAT ARE SUFFERING FROM USB>ITUNES STUCK.
i have a solution.
1. download 3.1.2 for 3gs, 3g etc.
2. download pwnagetools.
3.get a macbook or search google on “how to open DMG”
4. follow instructions on http://www.technobuzz.net/jailbreak-iphone-3-1-2-with-pwnagetool-3-1-4/ *NOTE* Dont save the IPWIN thingy to pwnage folder. Save to desktop
5. use blackra1n.
6 DONATE!!!!! (or just be happy i helped)
*WARNING* May restore ur iphone. Be4 you do this. Back up ur iphone onto ur sim

so yeh i hacked my iphone with this. and it was the WORST possible idea i could ever have. it was cool when i had it done all the cool apps. quick jailbreak time. miscelanous AWESOME stuff. however less than a month later my phone crashed. it wont leave the apple logo. i held sleep/home. i held home and started itunes. i opened blackrain and did both of the same. i opened terminal and tried to reset the old fashioned way… bottom line blackra1n SUXXXX soon you will all feel this kid “geohot” balls on your chin….
