Mac user Tim Gaden posts a simple – but useful – trick to make applications, folders and documents you use often available in the Finder toolbar.

Simply drag and drop the icon onto the Finder toolbar to dock a quick shortcut there. Handy for quickly opening files in a non default application (like a config file in a text editor) or quickly filing documents, you can set more options in the Customize Toolbar dialog (right-click on the toolbar to get there.)
