On Friday, Engadget posted a report about detailed makeover of Apple TV in its current incarnation. The new device will reportedly be based on iPhone OS 4 software, including the homegrown A4 chip; have 16GB of local flash storage; come in a much smaller casing (reportedly the size of an “iPhone without a screen”); have just a few ports; and cost $99. Running on Apple’s A4 processor, the new Apple TV will essentially be a next-gen iPhone without the phone — or an iPad without the pad — and will be capable of decoding 1080p HD video and pumping it out to an HDTV.
It’s being described as an “iPhone without the screen” and should only have two or three ports (video out and power). And what will you pay for this mighty mini machine? $99.
