showimagephpAfter a long time of only rumors making the rounds on the Internet, Samsung’s M8800 was finally released. Although everybody expected it to be named Bresson, it seems that the South Korean group has had a change of heart, and went for the official dubbing of Pixon. While Bresson would have been used as a homage to the French photographer, Pixon comes with a more resonant signification, especially since the M8800 has an 8 megapixel camera (and the Pixel-Pixon correlation becomes obvious).

Samsung M8800 Pixon features Quad-band GSM, tri-band HSDPA , a 3.2-inch touchscreen display (240 x 400 pixels), GPS receiver, accelerometer, landscape virtual QWERTY keyboard, handwriting recognition, office document viewer, DivX playback, FM radio with RDS, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and ShoZu integration (for direct image and video upload). Its exact dimensions are 107.9 x 54.6 x 14.9 mm, at a weight of 110 g.

8 megapixel camera that includes auto focus, face recognition with smile and blink detection, WDR (wide dynamic range), ASR (advanced shake reduction), GPS geotagging, ISO 1600, WVGA (720 x 480 pixels) and VGA (640 x 480 pixels) at 30fps video recording. The lack of Wi-Fi might be considered a downside, though.

Samsung Pixon M8800 price will be around 550 EUR when it starts selling in France in mid October. Other countries to follow soon too.
