After the long wait finally today twitter released the Official app for Android mobile phones, but there is a sad news also that it is only compatible with Android 2.1 devices — the unfortunate side-effect of Android’s break-neck pace of development. The app actually looks really good, both visually and feature-wise. The application is completely integrated into the operating system for easy access from other core applications. For instance, users will be able to post tweets directly from many applications such as Gallery, simply by choosing Twitter from the “Share” menu. Additionally, users can see tweets directly from the QuickContact Bar, their phonebook, the home screen widget, Google talk,and even on Maps.
The official Twitter application for Android can be obtained freely in the Android Market right now.
