Windows 7 Tip: 
Finally Dev Team Release the new Pwnage tool 3.1.4 for MAC, which helps you to Jailbreak your iphone with Firmware 3.1.2, read the tutorial here. Now after the Jailbreak so have to unlock your iphone to use it any of the carriers. So here we are posting the guide which will help you to Unlock your iphone 3.1.2 with ultrasn0w.
Here is the Guide.
1. Jailbreak your iphone with pwnage tool 3.1.4
2. Run Cydia to install Ultrasnow. Select “Manage” tab on the bottom. Than touch on “Sources”.
3. Click edit button and Add following Repo URL
http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/
and touch on “Add Source”.
4. Now Cydia will automatically update your iPhone Sources.
5. Now search for ultrasn0w in Cydia and install it. This will Automatically Unlock your iPhone.
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G, Thats it.
Ok, 3gs, jailbrocken, followed the instructions and unlocked but my phone still will not find a carrier. i go into settings – carrier and is get a message
“unable to load network list”
Any ideas….

I ran it – and it appeared to work perfectly – however upon the device rebooting – it just sits on “searching” for the network and wont find anything
I’ve tried 2 different SIM cards which both work in other phones

I searched through the internet the whole day yesterday, because I was stubid enough to update my new iphone 3G (jailbreaked an unlocked) with itunes. What happens is that the new update 3.1.2 also changes the baseband, which is so far not downgradeable anymore with most of the iphones. In principle the unlock works so that the iphone accepts the SIM card, but it will not find any network because of the baseband change. Everybody who did the same mistake like me can only use the jailbreaked iphone like a PDA/ipod and has to wait until the DEV team has some news….
If somebody has luck and an old bootloader version in his iphone, he can downgrade his baseband using the tool Cydia Fuzzyband. Just search for it in the Cydia tool and install it. It will also tell you if the baseband downgrade is possible or not, by looking at the bootloader version.

Simply because your IPHONE is running under 5.11 modem firmware, this cannot be unlocked at the moment the new Pwnage is for JB of FW 3.1 and above.
Lets wait for the dev team to release the unlock solution for this 5.11 Modem Firmware.

3.1.2 cannot be unlocked yet. but you can jailbreak it. ultrasn0w works with lower baseband not with 5.xx.x. you guys have to wait. if it was jailbroken before you have to use pwnagetool to upgrade to 3.1.2 but if you have upgraded without pwnagetool thats it you gotta wait.
so the above instruction is a misinforming people. maybe a moron who cannot see whats going in the tech world.

actually, now, no one is working on the unlock of the 5.11, neither the Dev team, the chronic team, GeoHot or Snowbreeze, so we are stuck on an iphone without service

you can not unlock if you have upgrade with 3.1.2 before with standard Itunes upgrade. You have to use the customized firmware. If you have the 5.09 Bootloader you are a happy guy. Use a jailbraked 3.1.2 install Fuzzyband and downgrade the Baseband (just possibel with Booloader 5.09)

Christian’s post is right on. I followed his instructions, downgraded my band using fuzzyband and was able to load 3.0, run redsnow, jailbreak and unlock my phone again… now working with t-mobile again.
I think most people in this forum can downgrade to a 4.x.x band using fuzzyband, def worth a try.

I have bootloader 5.09 and fuzzyband is saying downgrading will only work with baseband bootloader 05.08 I think we all have to wait for dev team.

Everything works fine. But as mentioned, the unlocking doesnt work with firmware 3.1.2 with baseband 5.11.07.
I tried to use untrasn0w also.. but is not working with 5.11.07

I did update my 3G to the 3.1.2 and tried to jailbreak with blackra1n. I followed the steps and I saw the little man with the iphone. Now I get a cable with the itunes logo and it shows “No SIM card installed, Insert a valid Sim with no PIN lock to activate the phone” . So i´m stuck and i can´t even get to see the menu. I have also itunes 9 by the way. What can I do. I need help
