1. I had an 3G iPhone with 2.2 (old) that was jailbreaked with PwnageTool (no ultra/redsn0w or anythig like that).
2. I upgraded it to 3.1 via iTunes (somekind of a mistake)
3. The normal jailbreaking didn work and after many tries, the only method that worked is the one you have presented above.
4. BUT, the iPhone failes to unlock with Ultrasn0w

I’ve done everything properly and without any bumps, but with my T-mobile SIM inserted it only says “Searching” in the upper left corner where it usually has the carrier’s icon. Any idea why this is happening? It’s been this way for a few hours.

I have downgraded my Iphone from 3.1 to 3.0 and used redsn0w 0.8 to jailbreak and unlock it, but it could not search the Network. I think because when I upgrade to 3.1, its based band also be upped to 5…, while redsn0w 0.8 supports only based band 4…
How can I solve this problem?

i had the same problem once u upgrade to 3.1 and downgrade to 3.01 3.1 is made to block the signal. there is one way to solve this problem u have to download fuzzyband threw cydia on 3.01 and install it. and hope that your iphone bootloader version is 05.08 if it is, hit the downgrade. if your bootloader is not 05.08 then your shit outta luck.

hello all …. just hoping sombody can help me with a possable ETA on the new ultrasn0w for firmware 3.1 as i am in thailand with no network hoping and praying the Dev-Team get this sorted soon :p …. any advice would be greatly apperated.

i downgraded the 3.1 / 3G iphone to 3.0 (jailbroken) using the old redsn0w (on XP) it worked somehow LOL

THERE IS NO RESOLUTION RIGHT NOW!!!!! The Dev-Team is working on a resolution (if they find one) i am in the same boat as everyone else i have upgraded my 3g to 3.1 and cannot use ultra snow on it. the dev team i hope will come out with something new like supersnow or something that will unlock the 3g jailbroken phone for whatever GSM carrier that you use. untill then all you can use your iphone for is a mp3 and game player. Get your loaner phones out lmfao

No. I hope there will be a baseband downgrade or an unlock for the fuck baseband in 3.1. I want an iPhone but this have only 3.1 and I need 3.0.1!!! What about the Baseband downgrade in pwnage tool 3.1? Does it work?

I’m in the same situation. After do this process, no mater what SIM card is in the phone, the result that i only get is “Searching…”

I did the jailbreak with the new tool from the DEV team 3.1 using MACBOOK. It did it smoothly, BUT now there is no UNLOCK for it My baseband was updated to a 05.11.07. :S Don’t know how to unlock it and don’t know how to downgrade this base. Any suggestions?

Sad to say, currently the dev team has been so quite and can even provide updates to what their up to. hopefully unlock issues and JB for 3GS would come out soon. try to search for geohot, this guy rocks, he provides ETA to his work and in his site i found out that he was the one who created purplerain. latest update from him was 2 more days to produce the 3GS JB and soon the unlock issue for 3.1 FW would follow.

Hi Everyone,
Just to let you guys out there know my experience.
I had jailbreak and Unlock my Iphone at 3.0. When the Dev Team released the New PwnageTool to upgrade and Jailbreak to 3.1, I jumped the wagon and follow the instructions. However, after I was done jailbreaking i proceed to add Ultrasn0w to Unlock my phone since my baseband stayed at 4.26.08. With no luck, the phone would unlock. So after One day of thinking, maybe I should downgrade back to 3.0 so I can get it Unlock again, I’ve decide to try one more thing. I’ve uninstall Ultrasn0w, and installed Yellowsn0w. The phone rebooted and again no Unlock. So I decided that I will try to install Purplesn0w. But before I did that, I decide to Install Ultrasn0w again on top of Yellowsn0w. The phone rebooted and Voila!!!! My iPhone is unlock running OS 3.1 on baseband 4.26.08.
I hope my experience can help some folks out there with similar interest.

I tried to unlock it one time with the FIDO Sim … it was searching service. Then I tried to pu my rogers SIM in it… I can use the device but not the phone (at least, I can now give my brother’s SIM back)… then I tried to modify the Ultrasn0w application… Still NO SERVICE…

Hope it will be fixed soon!

Sooo I had the same problem as many of you… Upgraded to 3.1 by mistake, now iphone not working. After installing fuzzyband, and downgrading band. Re-installed firmware 3.0 and went through the jailbreak, unlock process for 3.0. Glad to say, everything worked, and my phone works again!!! not upgrading to 3.1 anytime soon!

Side note: Make sure you upgrade all cydia updates. I was initially receiving errors left and right, till I upgraded all cydia updates. After updates, everything was smooth.

Please tell me how to install fuzzyband and downgrade band. I accidently updated my unlocked iphone to 3.1 and now it will not work. I have tried numerous things and it just won’t unlock, not even jailbreak. HELP!

Jc, Yes I initially installed 3.1 of Itunes. Then my phone stopped working.

I then jailbroke it, but still couldn’t unlock to use with any network.

but being jailbroken, i was able to launch cydia,and like vu said, search for “fuzzyband”, installed fuzzy band. and downgraded to my band.

installed 3.0 > and jailbroke and unlocked successfully. iphone 3g is up and running again with tmobile.

Looks like the Dev Team has unlocked the baseband 05.11.07 and will do an update on November 04th. Check the Dev-Team Blog for updates

I tried that. Didn’t work.

Got excited for a minute there. I am running on baseband 4.26.08 and still without an unlock. Ultrasn0w is just not cutting it this time.

Hey guys!

I’ve found the solution to unlock your iPhone 3G. You have to make sure your SIM card is out of the phone first. After installing and rebooting you device from ultrasn0w, RE-INSERT your SIM card and there you go
The instructions need to emphasize on re-inserting the SIM card .

i know that there’s a redsn0w 0.9 for 3.1.2 but is there an ultras0w for baseband 5.11.07? updating to 3.1.2 will upgrade the baseband. if i jailbreak using redsn0w 0.9, can i use blacksn0w to unlock 5.11.07?

That’s the way I unlocked ,I used redsn0w 0.9.3
with iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore,only installed cydia no other fancy stuff,
Then on cydia added a source blackra1n.com,installed it and it works perfect on My 3gs os3.1 modem fw:05.11.07 boot:6.02(i installed blackra1n thru wifi no sim,cause my girlfrend needed her sim back,don’t know if it helped anything!)
